Payton's most recent accomplishment is getting rid of her "fier" (pacifer). We've been putting this off for some time now and finally decided it was time. One night Ryan asked her if she wanted to mail all of her pacifiers to Cousin Hudson. Payton starting jumping up and down and shouted, "YESSSSS!!!" So, we put them in a bag and she put them in the mailbox. I think she was quickly regretting her excitement. Pretty sure she didn't quite grasp the reality of the situation.
After we got inside she stood at the top of the stairs for a long time looking out the front door at the mailbox. She was really emotional and was trying not to cry. I think this was the first time we've ever seen her legitimately sad about something, not just whining or crying because she didn't get her way. We just kept reminding her that Hudson will be so happy to get them.
The first night she went to bed she cried for a few minutes. Ryan went in and consoled her a bit and she was fine after that. She goes down smoothly without it at night and for her naps, but every once in a while will wake up crying. She still asks for it every so often, but then remembers that Baby Hudson is happy now. I wonder if she thinks Hudson has been unhappy this whole time?? :)
